april 23, 2026 - “après l’après-midi d’un faune”
durational site-specific installation.
an exploration of set-making, functional space-making, and narrative, the installation staged a scene “of something having just happened”; the performers have disappeared, but the props and set pieces remain. the installation functions as an interpolation of the ballet “l’après-midi d’un faune” by vaslav nijinsky to present natural and mock elements mimicking each other in order to provoke an examination of ways in which sets, theater, media blur the line between real, imagined, and constructed, as well as the ways in which suspensions of disbelief can help us to re-imagine they way we think about spaces.
materials: temporary stage (~16x32’), drywall and metal studs fabricated into a free-standing room (8x8x8’), ceramic tiles, flatscreen tvs (2), alumnium ladders (2), construction work lights (2), construction hanging light, green light, extension cables, sony stereo, fake rock covers (5), goose decoys (4), coyote decoy, alligator head decoys (3), trail cams (2), ghillie suit, plastic monster gloves, vintage mirror, natural rocks and branches
